The Eye of the Beholder made me realize how different perceptions about a Michael Girard from different people shaped my perception towards him. I understood how my having only limited perspective about the character made me hate him until I heard his side of story which taught me another important lesson i.e. like a coin a story also has two side to it and therefore never arrive at a judgment or a conclusion unless I hear both sides of the story. Other characters in the story never confronted Michael with their perception about him which made them rely on their assumptions. As an observer the first half of the movie made me think of Michael as a person who is crazy, ill tempered and psychopath and so I judged him to be guilty of murdering the blonde. But the second half of the movie opened my eyes to a whole new world. A world which I saw through Michael’s eyes who was dedicated towards his work and excited as his search to find his modern day Madonna had come to an end when Ester found the blonde. But he fails to realize the expectations and inferences that other characters made when they interacted with him. Contribution: My major contribution was in taking ownership in finding a solution for the 3 rd question relating various observations we had from the movie regarding communication, listening, human relations and perception. On the basis of my understanding and key takeaways I have tried to relate them in finding the solution. I also contributed in brainstorming for the alternative ending to the storyline along with my group members. I cooperated and coordinated effectively with my team members for the assignment and the write up report.

16 | P a g e Demonstration: I found this movie relatable to my past experiences where I have made the mistake of snap judgments and so I want to gain a more holistic perception about any person or any situation before I reach my conclusions. The movie tells how some people either don’t realize the truth or realize just a part of it and how important it is to listen other side of the story which is something I wish to practice. The movie also made me realize how sometimes we become so insensitive and indifferent to the other persons’ dreams and when we are in the spot we expect ot hers to understand and support us. Respecting others opinions and dreams and understanding them through their world would be a great learning experience for me. This movie also shows how the other characters form opinions about Michael through their past experiences with no intention of learning the truth by confronting him or talking to him. I realize that most important thing when you have preconceptions about someone is to talk to them about it so that you clear the air and become better at arriving to your conclusions.
