Week Four Deserts Lab Report GLG/220 Version 2 2 15.19. Which kind of dune illustrated in Figure 15.15 do you believe you traversed with your topographic profile? Answer: The Barchans dune . 15.20. From which direction did the wind that fashioned the dunes of the Lakeside region blow (NE, NW, SE, or SW)? Answer: From the northwest Lab Summary The general principles of this lab are to explain how the winds and climates can influence different locations throughout the United States. How during the day in the desert it will be warm but as the sun sets the air becomes cooler because there is nothing to hold the heat from the sun. Depending on topographic location and the conditions of those locations helps determine what type of climate will be found. On a mountain top where the air is denser, you will find the climate to be wetter than in an inland area. This lab helped explain why certain areas weather will stay cold versus other areas where their weather will stay warm. Understanding how wind direction helped shaped the sand dunes in the desert was interesting also. The challenging part of this lab was determining which way the wind was blowing across the dunes in some of the figures at first.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
