Winter was quickly approaching and Nap.’s forces did not have enough supplies to last, so Nap. made one of the worst military decisions of all time, he retreated. He ended up deserting his own army, to the harsh treatment of the Russians, pretended to be dead so that he could gather more men to fight with him, and that decision lost him all alliances that he had previously had. Soon Prussia, Austria, Great Britain, and Sweden joined in on the side of the Russians. Those events led Nap. to his downfall and death on his own island that he had retreated to after the Battle of Leipzig on Oct. 16-17, 1813, where Paris was captured and a year later Nap. abdicated, and fled to Elba. Con; Now in the current era, the military knows not to make the same mistakes as Nap. that led to his demise, but to look into the events of how Nap. seized power in France and what raised him to become a military dictator. Napoleon will forever be known in many countries as a powerful leader who gained power in France and showed all who is boss, even his own church. dictator, Nap. was a manipulative genius. All in all, his actions throughout his life strengthened France and made them even more influential, even if the lost to many to Russia. Even though he made many mistakes, Nap. will always be remembered in our history books.
