In addition, we can concludes from the speaker tone that the father might have injured himself somehow based on the words the speaker said: “Was battered on one knuckle”. At first it seems as if he might have gotten into a fight, but that seem unlikely due to the fact that only one knuckle was hurt. The speaker add to part to inform the reader that even though his father was hurt he still found the time for him. The speaker goes into compare his father to himself by painting an image for the audience. The speaker say “At every step you missed My right ear scraped a buckle”, that just show us that while the boy is have fun he is still getting hurt because he is much shorter than his father. Finally, the last stanza the speaker continues by telling us what type of man his father is. The speaker mentioned that his father has a palm caked hard by dirt. Which convey that his dad is a hardworking man that might use his hand for work. This also show that his father just came from work and instead of going to out he decided to spend time with his son.
