Ob/gyn hospitalists and patient safety extended awareness and technique in labor and delivery department, contentment in enhanced patient results, decreased tension from extended hours and disagreements with personal practice hours and a confirmed decline in mismanagement disbursement. …….Below is a chart that shows how high the percentage was for malpractice claims before the OB/GYN Hospitalists came into play. (obhg.com, 2016) The scope of care the ob/gyn hospitalist provides varies considerably from site to site. Now of course being able to provide coverage for Labor and Delivery is priority, but their responsibilities may also include coverage for postpartum and antepartum care, as well as the emergency department and inpatient consultation. Labor and Delivery is a big job for the OB/GYN hospitalist because the responsiblies vary depending on the situation. Some of the situations may consist of evaluating all triage patients in an obstetric emergency department. In depth, this means covering all unassigned obstetrical patients, backing up the hospitals physicians who maybe away and supports non-surgical obstetric providers, midwives and maternal-fetal medicine specialist. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
