Completed courses must include 16 credits of college preparatory academic courses: 4 English (3 with substantial writing) 4 Mathematics - Algebra I level and above. 1. Consumer Math, Business Math, Applied Math III, Informal Geometry, Explorations in Math I, Explorations in Math II, Pre-Algebra and High School Liberal Arts Math CANNOT be used as one of the four BF required math credits. 2. The TWO COURSE SEQUENCES Algebra IA and Algebra IB or Applied Math I and Applied Math II count as ONE of the four BF required math credits. 3 Natural Science (2 with substantial lab) 3 Social Science: o American History (1) o World History (1) o Economics (.5) o US Government (.5) 2 Foreign Language (sequential, in the same language) Total: 16 credits Community Service Requirement : Bright Futures requires a minimum of 75 hours for the Florida Medallion Scholars (FMS) Award and 100 hours for the Florida Academic Scholars (FAS) Award.
