As you can see, the overarching goal for you in this course is to develop an understanding process by  which Social Psychologists apply the scientific method to understand and influence human thought and  behavior. C OURSE   FORMAT GUIDELINES AND   REQUIREMENTS 1)  Attending in-class meetings .  It is imperative that you attend class regularly in order to learn the  material.  Periodically, we will have attendance checks in the form of in-class free writing exercises. Note:  these attendance checks will NOT factor into your grade, they will simply be checked as done or not done.  You will receive credit for having written something relevant to the topic, with length of about  ½  page.  Even though you will not receive a numerical or letter grade, I will use them as a gauge for who regularly  attends (or does not attend) class. I will use this information to prioritize assisting students who show  consistent attendance throughout the semester. Otherwise, the attendance/participation grade will be  comprised of 3 things: 1) completing the course evaluation at the end of the course, which is very  important for improving your undergraduate learning experience as well as other students to come, 2)  completing the Jobs in Psychology assignment (detailed separately), and 3) making a visit to my office  hours at least once during the semester. In order to get credit for completing the course evaluation, you  must take a screenshot of your evaluation completion screen and upload it to Canvas. All told,  attendance/participation is worth 5% of your final grade.  Note: your TAs will schedule the office hour visits such that each student will have a designated time to  meet with me. Stay tuned for more details/announcements to come. If you have a conflict (e.g., another  course or extracurricular activity) during my office hours, you must contact me to set up a make up  meeting that MUST be scheduled at least 1 week before your designated date/time. For example, if you are  scheduled for an office hour visit on November 6 th
