5. What is natural selection and how does it relate to descent with modification (evolution as described by Darwin). Natural selection is the process in which individual organisms or phenotypes that possess inheritable traits, are more likely to survive and reproduce. Descent with modification is the change in population over generations, which eventually led to the rich diversity of life we see today. Similar to Natural selection, descent with modification resulted in the increase the diversity of life through various adaptations to their habitat, along with the survival of the fittest. In the end, natural selection will lead to greater adaptation of the population to its local environment. 6.What is the “Cambrian Explosion” and why is it significant?
