former monks. The local gentry and nobles did very little to discourage the rebellion. The rebels demanded that the king replace Cromwell and to restore the Catholic Church and its connections to Rome. - The violence at first was minimal and Henry cautioned the rebels to lay down their arms and go home. - Henry began raising an army, but by the rebels had practically all but dissolved. - Yorkshire uprising , late October/early November were lead by Robert Aske. This rebellion drew some gentry support. This was a serious threat to Henry. - Aske and his followers marched behind a religious banner and wanted the reformation to be undone. They all took an oath to preserve the king and expel his evil advisors (Cromwell, Cramner, ect) - Henry called upon the Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk, (1473-1554) to go and put down the rebellion. Norfolk led his forces into the north in the winter and the conflicts were short lived. Aske’s support dissolved when the king sent his army. Norfolk continued through the country making examples of those who rebelled and hanged a couple hundred rebels. He left the corpses hanging to remind people the treason resulted in death.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
