Methodology 7 to pre-test the questionnaire because it is the place where the actual study will be carried. This will help the researcher to know how she will be dealing with the participants during the actual study. 3.7.2 Reliability To ensure reliability, a pilot study will also be conducted at the University of Northampton. The pilot study will involve conducting a 20-30 minute interview with adults aged 25-35 years at the University of Northampton in order to ensure that the tool will be able to gather the desired data. After the pilot study is completed, unclear question will be made clearer. Additionally, the survey questionnaire will be administered more than once, and a correlation coefficient will be used to ascertain its reliability. Further, according to Cohen et al. (2013), Cronbach’s alphas of more than 0.85 are used to find out if a question measure what it is supposed to measure. If the pilot study reveals that there is consistency in relation to a particular variable, then internal consistency is assured. 3.8 Inclusion Criteria All adults aged between 25-35 years that will be available during the interview. 3.9 Exclusion Criteria All adults who will not be willing to respond to the interview questions. 3.10 Data Collection Procedure According to Cohen et al. (2013), data collection is one of the most important elements of any scientific study as the quality of the collected data can influence the validity of the study. This study will assume a qualitative approach in data collection as it is the most appropriate for gathering data in explorative studies such as this one. Through a qualitative approach, it will be possible for the researcher to collect data that will be helpful in

Methodology 8 understanding the views of drug usage in older adults. The most important aspect of data collection is that the collected data must be of high quality (Cohen et al., 2013). In view of that, the researcher will take various measures in this study as a means to foster data quality. First, during data collection, the researcher will ask the participant to be honest when answering questions and giving their views. Finally, due to social desirability bias, the data collector will avoid the use of leading questions in order to help eliminate this type of bias and thus avoid compromising the quality of the collected data. In this study, qualified individuals will be contacted and scheduled for interviews. The interview questions will majorly comprise of factors related to drug usage and why alcohol is more accepted in the society than illegal even though alcohol is more dangerous for the body. Participants will be males and females from a diverse background with ages ranging between 25-35 years. The participants will be recruited using snowball sampling technique. A neighbour has offered to take part in the study and he is the one who will introduce me to other participants. I have also considered asking other neighbours in the area that may be willing to take part to get a diverse range of participants. The activity of the participants will

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
