…26/28Brittany,I agree that speaking up is beneficial. In researching preventive maintenance Ifound a great article on . It is called TPM Total Preventative Maintenance. It is full of valuable information. It mentionsthat with preventative maintenance, you achieve no breakdowns, no stops orslow running, and no defects which you hit on in your post. On thing itmentions that I did not think about was the value it adds to a safe workingenvironment as well. Itwasn't so much that manager said he didn't want to fix something that was notbroken, but there was a lack of prioritization based on current projects.Although not everything can always get done in any given day, it is stillimportant to prioritize accordingly. Preventative maintenance on an expensivepiece of equipment may be much more important that that on inexpensiveequipment or sometimes, minor defects in current equipment.
