Building long lasting relationships with the community, families, andschools can have a positive impact on everyone involved. We can find a local business to providea give-back day. A give back day can be where you donate any old books, clothes, canned goods,school supplies, home appliances to families in need. Another event outside the school would becommunity day. This is where the community comes together for the students as community day.This would be to help raise money for more supplies where families can donate time to puttogether carnival games and rides, make food, sale bake goods, and students can have a fun filledday.My first SMART goal is within a month of starting a new academic school year, I willcreate a culturally responsive classroom in which students are collaboratively working in groupsat least twice a week and assisting each other in the competition of assignments to implement aculturally responsive teaching practices to best meet the needs of all students in my classroom.To help you gain a better understanding of families so that I can connect instruction to students’experiences my Smart goal is to conduct bi-monthly parent-teacher meetings on the thirdWednesday so that parents feel that their voices are being heard and I can keep them informedwith their scholar’s progress. To collaborate with community members outside of the schoolenvironment to meet the needs of your identified population(s) and that contributes to positivesocial change my SMART goal is to have different community members and leaders come inquarterly to speak to students and volunteer inside the classroom. To involve collaborationamong your school community, families, and community my SMART goal is to by the end of
second quarter, I will create a 9 class STEM session workshops for students after school at 3various locations for grades K-2 from 2:00 pm-3:00 pm. For grade 3rdand 4th2:00 pm-4:00 pm.Then for grades 5 and 6 from 3:00-5:00 pm. The STEM workshop will be a technology-basedworkshop. I will also use technology to community effectively with parents and the community.The first action plan is meeting with families bi-monthly on the third Wednesday toconduct parent-teacher conferences. In the parent-teacher conferences we will discuss progressareas, struggling areas, grades, behavior, academic resources, and strategies for parents to workat home with their child. I will provide parents the with a detailed packet form of their child’swork, grades, behavior chart, and test scores to review prior to the meeting. I will then send an e-mail 24 hours prior to the meet time to confirm the meeting time as a reminder.
