3 Differentiate between: i) phenotype and genotype Phenotype – physical appearance of an organism Genotype – genetic makeup of an organism ii) heterozygous and homozygous Heterozygous – organism having 2 different alleles at the same locus on homologous chromosomes Homozygous – organism having identical alleles at the same locus on homologous chromosomes Exercise 10.1: 4. What is the objective of this exercise? To explore the effects of 2 different mutations on chlorophyll production by tobacco seedlings and to prove dominance. 5. Explain the difference between dominant and recessive alleles. Dominant allele is the allele that will always be expressed in the organisms phenotype. Recessive alleles, on the other hand, are traits that will only be expressed in a homozygous condition because there is no dominant allele present. 6. What are the genotypes and colors of the leafs of tobacco seedlings for i) Complete dominance. Two phenotypes are dominant, ( GG & Gg -green, and gg – albino).

ii) incomplete dominance. Three phenotypes may be seen (gg seedlings are albino, Gg seedlings are yellow-green, GG seedlings are green).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
