people in the scenes. One of my favorite characters was “SEEN”, the recognized artist among the graffiti community. He seemed like a charismatic person who led other people to express through graffiti. It is not the traditional film to watch for entertainment, but even though I feel like I am satisfied with its content with no regrets on watching it. I found most effective in the film how the interactions with the artists showed why they did graffiti and how they felt like it was their necessity to do it and mark their names through the entire city. I feel like hip-hop was a secondary theme of the movie since most of it revolved around graffiti and the artists. However, the music chosen for the movie really made up for that and maintained its essence. All in all, Silver and Chalfant did an incredible job producing this documentary because of the type of approach that they implemented into filming the graffiti alongside with the street artists. This made the film gain a unique touch and insight about what the graffiti community during the 70s and 80s was all about. Chalfant’s work depicts exactly what I would’ve imagined this period to be like. His photographs show the styles and culture adopted by the society fascinated with the hip-hop genre as well as the artistic movement in the subway cars all over the city. The aesthetic of the film along with Chalfant’s photograph are aligned with the pop culture of the time which promotes the viewer to maintain engaged and feel as if participating in the film.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
