first objection to rule utilitarianism is that when tackling moral dilemmas. Rule utilitarianism tries to bring it as close to science as it can. Morality cannot be seen. Morality is not a set guiding rule, or basis of reasonings as every person has a different moral standpoint. With rule utilitarianism, morality and ethical dilemmas are tackled with assigned numbers and values. An action should not be categorized into a point system, nor should it be easy to assign points to a certain action. In respect to finding the best possible outcomes, these numbers and values are being assigned only if everyone followed the given rule. As found in ethical discussions and beliefs, it is very rare that a moral point is to be accepted by everyone. And if everyone cannot accept this rule, then the numbers assigned to these outcomes are invailid because they are not truthful to all within this dilemma. whether to hide a movie from a friend, such as keeping prisoners of war hostage. Once the tables of all possible outcomes are created both bad and good, in the end we are basing the liberty of a person on numbers. An issue such as prisoners of war is much less likely to have agreeable aspects, which means that if a number for a certain outcome were to be, -7, would that number be truthful to everyone? Or would some people assign that outcome as a -3, or even a positive four. The issue here is that a number cannot be assigned when that number does not represent the
