Significant advantages of Kotter’s 8-step change model The model has significant advantages. One of the benefits of the model is that it is an easy step by step model that is easy to follow and apply. The other advantage of the model is the fact that the primary focus of the model is on preparing and accepting change, not the actual change. The transition is also easier with Kotter’s 8-step change model (Kotter, 2006).

Change management models. However, there are disadvantages of the model. The model contains various steps which can’t be skipped. If a step is skipped, the transition would become harder. Another disadvantage of the model is that it take a great deal of time due to many steps involved. Lewin’s 3-stage Model. The model is also referred to as the unfreeze-change-refreeze model. Lewin’s 3 stage model proposes that changing an organizational culture can be completed by application of three generic steps. The three steps involved in this model include unfreeze which involve unlocking of current stagnant culture in the organization, change which involves changing to the required way and refreezing that involves sustaining the new culture (Cooper, 2012). Unfreeze - this is the initial stage of the model that involves preparing people in the organization for change and also acceptance of the transition.
