47 CHAPTER 6 PROJECT MANAGEMENT 6.1 Introduction The project management is intended to achieve all project goals and planning that was scheduled throughout this project based on the arranged timeline. The primary constraints in this project are the research scope, research time and new knowledge to perform the required activity. Regarding to the constraint, project schedule had been designed on Gantt chart to give a clear direction for the time management of this project. Besides that, cost calculation on the components for this project had been done to ensure the cost for this project is within its planned cost estimation. In this process, market survey on electronic and hardware supplier is carried out and to determine the total cost, the components price is then tabulated.

48 6.2 Project Schedule Table 6.1 shows the Gantt chart for semester one project planning. Based on the figure, its shows that title decision taking longer time because of the faculty are late in assigning supervisor to students. Because of that reason, we have to wait until week 3 since any idea or project that we want to propose need to be discussed and verified by supervisor first before we can proceed. Besides, the selection of sensors took much time because the best performance sensor with lower cost need to be surveyed on the market. Table 6.2 shows the Gantt chart for semester two. During this session, there are some problems with the GBoard module that were bought. Because the supplier is also a student that owned small company, the item cannot be simply returned. So, troubleshooting and working on the module need to be continued to make sure that the module is really damage in order to replace it with the new one.

50 6.3 Cost Estimation Table 6.3 shows the cost estimation for greenhouse model. In this model development, mist maker and I2C LCD module are producing significant increase in the price as compared to other components although this is the cheapest price in the market. However, this components is essential to create the working model of a greenhouse system. Meanwhile, Table 6.4 shows the cost estimation of greenhouse controller box that include microcontroller, electronic component, sensor and the construction of controller box. As the main brain for the system, the GBoard that consist of Arduino microcontroller and GSM module in one board, it contributing the most price for the cost. Besides that, Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) is also showing significant price difference. The SMPS is required since the greenhouse system need high current supply for the greenhouse system to function in optimize mode. For example, the grow light that consist of 45 super bright LED need almost 1.5A and GBoard need about 2A current supply.
