He was a dominican- GODS DOG FF - the were the executioners of inquisition. They saw people of different teachings as a risk to souls. The people we burned in fire because they wanted to show the people what the cost would be . AQ was merciful and really wanted to give people a chance Natural religion - knowledge of the earth that leads to knowledge of the creator Revealed religion .- revealed by God AQ - from nothing comes nothing If there is current movement there but be a mover All things have the potential to be but they but be acted on by something that is That is god, The question is whether god was the initializer or the sustainer Aq’s issue he was open to the idea of and infiat universe but not an infinite chain of events A potential infinity is something that can be defined as infinity but doesn't have to be Maybe aq thought that time was a potential infinity but vanished as they went through it. Phil reading- david hume and the dialogues concerning natural religion. Oct 15. Demea - No one questions the existence of God. But the nature of him is incomprehensible and unknown. We are weak in all things and if God is God and creator he must be strong. If God is not man why would he think as one. There is a great inconsistency in our analyzation of God. Definition God is the first cause of the universe most notably referred to as a being. Demea say that our intentions in language when talking to God matter and thought our human descriptions of glory is good enough because it's what we have. Zak: i think it's almost a contradiction when he says that because he says thought pur human explanation of God is not good enough. Cleanthes - says that the fitting of mans things resibles the fittings of the world continues by saying that like table legs have a purpose human legs have a purpose. Demea points out that the way something is used is not what its for. Philo then sets forth the idea that if a man set aside everything he knows then everything even wild idea are equally possible without experience. And that it is experience that points out causes. This is where he comes to the conclusion that just because something works in one way doesn't mean it was designed to work that way. He continues by saying that is is crazier to think things come together by internal minds than a universal mind. Same thing with steel becoming a watch through and external plan and similar effects have similar causes. So philo agrees with cleanthes about sinilar to similar but the questions what is similar then questions his assertion that god is like man, saying that it belittles God. He questions the exact extent of similarities, saying that science if careful to judge what is similar.he questions whether from the part the whole can be compared. But our thought are weak causes of machines why would thought be the cause of a universe. We have no universe or anything like it where something out of nothing occurs out of nothing. And then there's the

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
