customer satisfaction are only a few components to launch towards this endeavor.Profitability isthe bottom line for any business to survive in a competitive market.BPI is used by otherbusinesses to achieve the goals mentioned previously.Whether businesses are in the sameindustry or different, positioning themselves to incorporate the BPI method is critical to theirsustainability.Other businesses within the health and fitness industry may not subscribe to theterm BPI, but at most will use a similar component that requires them to redesign theinfrastructure.Commonly known as business process reengineering or BPR, ambition, processfocus, questioning fundamental assumptions of the process, and that information is used as anenabler and measurement of results, not as activities (Siha & Saad, 2008).Most health andfitness clubs design their programming in a similar fashion.Before people knew about LifetimeFitness and their applications, places such as Fitness 2000, Planet Fitness, 24-hour Fitness,Anytime Fitness, and Gold’s Gym were at the height of appealing to the fitness market.Offeringsome (if not most) of the same services and products, these clubs have achieved success or failedwithin the process.The differentiation between them came down to membership fees, productcosts, timing and speed of service.Such CSFs are meant to distinguish the efforts set bymanagement of these given businesses.Moreover, the suitability of businesses incorporatingBPR was a dynamic way that allowed for adaption to the market but caused some similarities intheir activities by examining other businesses in the same industry.As to reengineering successfactors, it is noticed that reengineering efforts were behind many positive outcomes such as:reduce cost; increase productivity; reduce time; improve quality; reduce business cycle; increaseprofit; and decrease response time (Siha & Saad, 2008).Although, BPR and BPI are similar in
9INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PROJECT 2nature, businesses tend to use these methods accordingly with their strategic plans andobjectives.Lifetime Fitness was able to recreate the narrative using the methods of BPI and BPR toshift the focal point in how maintaining a position in the market was ever achievable.Inapplying these two methods has allowed for this fitness club to benchmark their level of growthcompelling the CSFs to progress.Setting themselves apart in the industry, BPI is the necessarytool for Lifetime Fitness to take over as brand ambassador for health and fitness.Withdifferentiating from other clubs and fitness facilities, the variety of services and productscatapults this venture to set the standard of health and fitness.Change is the prevalentcharacteristic that is always constant.By Lifetime Fitness adapting to the needs and demands ofthe industry, their processes are to align with those of the target population served to achievecustomer satisfaction.Their applicability to incorporate the BPI method will allow them to dojust that.Business process modeling allows the analyst to capture the broad outline andprocedures that govern what it is a business does and thereby provides an overview of where theproposed processes being considered will fit into the organizational structure and daily activities
