well. After watching the movies and reading the articles and other resources, imagine that you have the disorder. As another way to think about this, imagine that you are an actor/actress and you have been assigned to play the role of a person with the disorder; you are studying the disorder to enhance your ability to act out your character. After you have researched the disorder, you are to write a paper from the perspective of a person with the disorder. You are to write in first person and discuss how you think, feel, behave, how your symptoms interfere with your functioning in the areas noted above and how others seem to perceive you and/or how others treat you. At some point in your paper, discuss getting treatment for the disorder. Your discussing treatment needs to include one or more treatment methods for the disorder (i.e., type of psychotherapy, psychotropic medication) based on the literature that you have reviewed. The body of your paper is to be 5 to 6 (no more) double-spaced pages in length. Points will be deducted if the paper is less than 5 full pages or if it is more than 6 pages. Given that you are writing in first person, do not provide in-text citations in the body of your paper. However, you must include a References Page at the end of your paper which identifies the resources (articles & videos) that you used to prepare for this assignment. Also, be certain to cite the resources according to APA guidelines. *Please note that papers (hard copy) are due at the beginning of class on the date specified on the schedule. If an emergency arises and you are not able to attend class on that day, your paper must be submitted to instructor by email by the beginning of class. If the paper is not submitted by the beginning of class, it will be considered a day late. For each day that the paper is submitted late, there will be 5 points deducted from the grade. In the event that you need to submit an electronic copy on the due date, you must still bring a hardcopy to class the following week for grading (i.e., instructor will not print hardcopy to be graded). To clarify, an electronic copy of your paper only needs to be submitted if you are not able to submit your hardcopy on the due date. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
