enforcement of all levels in order to pursue violent gangs. These task forces use an Enterprise Theory of Investigation (ETI). According to the FBI website, “Combining short term, street levelenforcement activity with such sophisticated techniques as consensual monitoring, financial analysis, and Title III wire intercepts investigations using ETI aim to root out and prosecute the entire gang.”
GANGS IN AMERICA TODAY6Of these 3 main initiatives presented by the FBI, I strongly feel the Violent Gang Task Forces are the most efficient. I say this because they utilize there sources in all areas such asfederal, state, and local law enforcement agencies in order to collaboratively address the violent crime that is taking over our communities. There are more than 150 tasks force involved in apprehending these violent gang criminals. All in all by far the best initiative that the gang task force takes is the communication amongst each other, whether is being between local, state and federal. It allows officials the most up to date and thorough information which is required to successfully incentivize witness testimonies or capture the gang leaders and their subordinates. This initiative seems to cover all of the bases Overall, the size and organization alone involved inthe Violent Gang Task Forces makes them the most successful initiative, in my opinion. In conclusion, with 33,000 gangs and counting the alarmingly high number of gangs in the United States poses a risk to public safety and national security and the measures that are being taken to stop the growth and behavior of these gangs is imminent. Although all gangs may be considered dangerous, there are some that commit crimes so heinous that the FBI classifies them as disturbing. Its so disturbing to why some of these gangs do some of the things they do. A glimmer of relief is that the gang activity trend seems to be on the decline, despite the growing number of gang members around the world. The FBI possesses many outlets for gang related information such as the FBI Gang News site and the National Gang Report, both available for public record. country can hope for a steady decline in gang activity for the future years.
