look around, they found a dead bird with a broken neck. In the play, the bird was Minnie’s best friend. The moment Mr. Wright strangled the bird, she broke. The violent act of killing the bird symbolizes the physical and mental damage done to Minnie Wright. Mr. Wright damaged her spirit throughout their marriage, and it finally broke her. Minnie was ready to be free. It is apparent that thought Minnie did murder of her husband, it seems like the one responsible of the tragedy was Mr. Wright himself. If he did not destroy Minnie and took her soul away, none of this would’ve happened. There was nothing else Minnie could do to escape her abusive Husband. She was trapped in the farmhouse without no way out. From the beginning of the play to the end, we can see how much damage the violence did to Minnie’s personality, making her a whole new person. The murder of Mr. Wright is an act of violent., but that doesn't mean that violence isn't always the wrong thing to do. Self defense is a common thing that happens everyday. Sometimes violence is the only way out.
