Intergroup conflict can be prevented or eliminated by ensuring business partner skills are required across teams, 360 feedback is given and goaled, and assessing behavior within a group project. Business partnerships and effective ways of working are key to an individual moving up within an organization, you need to be able to business partner with different people, personality, and culture in order to become an effective and good leader. Feedback is important, and not just from the direct supervisor. Getting feedback from peers, subordinates, outside business partners, etc. will help teams and individuals focus on the goals without conflict and competing to win mentality. Teams need to understand upfront that there will be a part of their assessment that has 360 feedback involvement and usually this motivates employees to help other teams or members of the organization. According to Psychological Science, “In a time of increasing globalization — and global conflict — these findings suggest that intergroup contact interventions may be a valuable tool for reducing prejudice and increasing understanding between ethnic groups at the local, national, and global level” (“Reducing Intergroup Conflict Through Contact”, 2015). The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
