2. What measures of performance do the dashboards display? Give examples of several management decisions that would benefit from the applications provided by Valero’s dashboard. The dashboards were able to display detailed statistics on power consumption for all the plants. This allowed the plants to communicate with each other and executives and make any necessary changes for their plant. If one plant implemented a strategy that allowed it to conserve power, that information could be shared with the other plants and the executives could create a companywide policy which all the plants would have to follow. 3. What kinds of information systems are required by Valero to maintain and operate its refining dashboard? Valero has created a dashboard that is able to measure the amount of power being consumed as well as the status of the plant overall. They have also opened up communications between executives, the plants, and employees to share information. This has been done by developing communication software through the dashboard. With the dashboard in place, Valero has been able to streamline the business in regards to information transmission. 4. Should Valero develop a dashboard to measure the many factors in its environment that it does not control? Why or why not?

Individual Project 4 7 If Valero did in fact create a dashboard for this purpose, they would be able to gauge how those outside forces affect their business. So, yes, they should definitely develop a dashboard that would allow them to measure factors that they cannot control. This will allow them to build a strategy to put in place when these factors do in fact come into play.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
