(90%) Sustational -uncommon- during pregnancy- watch diet- after pregnancy goes away but risk of type 2 later in life. Diabetes complications Blindness,slows down digestion,amputations,heart disease. Oils to fat hydrogenation VITAMINS & MINERALS: Fat soluble(DAKE) and water soluble (Bs&C). VItamin K: help clot blood. VItamin A is vision (not needed daily). Vitamin ACE are antioxidant vitamins with Se and Zn. Antioxidant: An antioxidant are chemicals that protect against free radicals. VItamins on food labels: D,Calcium, Iron,& Potassium. Osteoporosis is weak bones-> calcium intake,exercise, and VD. Iron is part of hemoglobin. VD acts as a hormone in the body (SUN). NADH and FAD are coenzymes involved in metabolism and require vitamins B! Starch: plant storage carb. GLycogen: animal storage carb. Insulin is a hormone.Pentanal is more water soluble than decanol, Methane has a LB point than methanol. ENzymes work on substrates. NH3 is ammonia and is toxic to the body. CO2 is made in body. NACL is a salt and its ions are important to biological electrolytes. Reactant in enzyme catalyzed reaction is called a substrate. Soap is prepared by acid hydrolysis of a triacylglycerol. The biochemical roles of lipids are component of cell membrane, catalysts, and structural support. In chemical terms soaps can best described as salts.What is the charge on an amino acid at a PH below its’s PI is neutral. VE is NOT a lipid.
