Time-Elapsed Information: log kept to date of child’s services Accountability Interview: obtain feedback and prevent problems Follow-Up Questionnaire: anonymous surveys to teachers and parents Telephone Follow-Up: at least one call to parents Behavioral Consultation: after referral is received, SP meets with teacher to discuss New Challenges – 2 Issues: RTI Model – whether or not a child responds to interventions may be more important in determining the child’s needs for SPED than results of more formal testing o Student may not show discrepancy, but will qualify for services based on non-response to interventions o Based on record keeping and careful documentation of what works and what doesn’t work for a student, classroom, school building, or entire district Evidence-Based Intervention – relates to RTI, as more interventions are documented as effective, practicing SPs can be confident that the strategies and techniques they recommend or implement have a good chance of being successful
