that they are not supposed to fat or big. This unfavorable view of their bodies results to feelings of hate and lack of control. The media further goes ahead to implicitly imply that being thin comes along with social benefits and advantages. The beauty in thinness is equated to bring social privileges and attraction (Sparhawk, 2003). The unattractive or fat people are discriminated against leaving the individuals with negative thought about self in regard to their body image. The media goes further to give conflicting messages about the ideal body shape. They portray the models as thin, heavily chested and having round behinds. The society turns that as the ideal body shape and weight that all women should always have to bring true happiness and attraction. According to Sparhawk(2003) asserts that, women therefore not only spend a lot of effort in extreme dieting and exercising , but also resort to other measures such as plastic surgeries and spending on beauty products to attain the ideal thin body size and image. Additionally, the promotion of the ideal thin body size on magazines, billboards and magazines everyday further decreases one’s self esteem which influences the perception of one’s body image negatively, leading to eating disorders.
