technology has enabled the commercial banks to have more customers who cannot do their transactions at the bank and they can enjoy economies of scale. 4.6.2 Findings on how mobile banking products influence the performance of commercial bank According to the responses given during the research it shows that mobile banking products have an influence on the performance of commercial banks. Mobile banking products offered was bill payments, transfer of funds between accounts, order for cheque books and bank statements. The researcher found out that mobile banking products had a great influence on financial performance of the bank. Payments through the mobile device have enabled the customers to pay for wide range of services than paying inform of cash and cheque such as payment of electricity bills, water bills and loan repayment. Mobile banking enables the customer to transfer money from his accounts to another. The researcher found out that the payments through mobile phone were appropriate since the required amount was paid and eliminate fraud therefore no misuse of funds. 4.6.3 Findings on how lower costs of mobile banking services influence the performance of commercial banks According to the response given during the research it show that the cost of mobile banking services is lower due to its efficiency in operations. Therefore this has increased the number of users day by day. Mobile banking services has also facilitated financial institution to lower their costs for example automatic text messages that notify the customers about the loan disbursement, loan payment and also warnings of late payments. Lower costs of mobile banking services has enabled many customers to save time from going to the bank premises and also reduced their travelling costs.it has also made their mobile payment affordable. 28
CHAPTER FIVE SUMMARY, CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS 5.1 Introduction This chapter gives the summary of findings, conclusions drawn from the findings highlighted and recommendations that were made by the researcher. The conclusions and recommendations drawn were in pursuit of addressing the research objectives of determining the effects of mobile banking on financial performance of commercial banks in Kirinyaga County. 5.2 Summary The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of mobile ban king on financial performance of commercial banks, a case of Kenya Commercial Bank in Kirinyaga County. This study was guided by three objectives which focused on influence of high volume of mobile banking transactions, mobile banking products and costs of mobile banking services on mobile banking. The researcher in this used descriptive research design and the study aimed at collecting data from customers of the bank in relation to their access to mobile banking in KCB Kirinyaga county.167 questionnaires were distributed to the respondents out of which
