Sensor to a Dynamic Cart so they can apply horizontal force to the hook, directed along the sensitive axis of the sensor. Student then attaches the accelerometer so the narrow is horizontal and parallel to the direction that the cart will roll. Orient the narrow so that if they pull on the force sensor the cart will move in the direction of the narrow. The student then finds the mass of the cart with the force sensor and accelerometer attached. Record the mass in the data table. Then they connect the force sensor and accelerometer to the vernier computer interface. Attach the WDSS to the cart and find the mass of the cart with the WDSS attached. Record the mass in the data table. They then turn on the WDSS. Student the makes sure the activation of the bluetooth is on, on the computer or is connected to a Bluetooth USB Adapter. After starting Logger Pro and choosing Connect interface from the experiment menu. Select wireless and then scan for wireless device. If the WDSS is not found they should try scanning again. A dialog box is displayed showing the WDSS on the list of available devices. Then select WDSS and click ok. Student then opens the file that says “09 Newtons Second Law” from the Physics with Vernier folder. To zero the sensors, place the cart on the dynamic track on a level surface. Verify the cart is not moving and click zero. Check that both accelerometer and force are selected and click OK. The student is now ready to collect force acceleration data. Grasp the force sensor or WDSS hook. Click collect and roll the cart back and forth along the track covering a distance of about 10cm. Vary motion so that both small and large forces are applied. Your hand must touch only the hook and not the sensors or cart body. Only apply force along the track so that no frictional forces are introduced.
