PACIFIC: DECISION-MAKING POWER 3 If these things are not taken into consideration there could unsuitable matches of delegations to team members, which could have a negative impact on the task and the team as a whole. There are only four members of the Pacific Team, not including the leader Mai. Malcom is the first member to appear in the game after the plane crashes on the island. Malcom brings a great deal of knowledge about mechanical engineering to the team. Therefore, he should be able to hold the part of decision-making that is directly related to the details of designing the actual parachute for the hot air balloon. Secondly there is Julia, who can be extremely demanding and detail-oriented. If used correctly, these characteristics can be used to help her delegate tasks to others on the team that involve great attention to detail, like organizing and numbering. Thirdly, there is Annika whose background is in healthcare where she can best delegate decisions toward the team’s physical health, environmental maintenance and the best way to handle food safety. Lastly, Omar has immense skills in construction, is a great communicator and athlete. Larson (2017), states that good communicators are essential in successful delegations because they tend to make sure information is relayed correctly with the “who” and the “Why”. Since Omar is a go-getter and can communicate well with others, he would do well in coordinating tasks that can be completed by more than one person, a collaborative team effort. He can facilitate and make a good decision on who works together and why.
