This preview shows page 1 - 2 out of 2 pages.

1st party logistics: all activities are handled internally by the company. 2nd party logistics: Basic domestic (including warehousing & trucking) and international freighting is being handled by an outside contractor. 3rd party logistics or 3PL: All logistics demand is outsourced to a single party who serves as the sole point of contact between a customer and its chain of logistics needs. Teaching Tip: The instructor is highly encouraged to download the first 3 minutes of Jim Carry’s movie titled Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. Jim Carry plays a delivery guy who hates his job. However, this movie explains in detail the importance of complying with the 7R’s of logistics. Students are to explain which of the 7R’s of logistics Jim Carry has broken. The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
