The commander remains at the carry. The staff will present arms with the commander on the commander's separate command to the staff. During parades and other ceremonies, when it is prescribed for the staff to change its position to place itself behind the commander, the commander will order the adjutant to "BOX THE STAFF." The adjutant then gives the following commands. "Staff, Carry, SWORD" (if so armed) "Staff, Left, FACE" "Staff, Column Right, MARCH" - Second column right executed without command. - Once each staff member has reached their new position they automatically mark time. "Staff, HALT" "Staff, Right, FACE" "Staff, Order, SWORD" (if so armed) During a parade that requires the colors to be brought forward, the staff moves to one side to allow the colors to pass. Colors Forward The commander will command "Personnel to Receive Awards (Be Retired), and All Colors, Center, MARCH." On "Colors," the staff comes to carry sword, if so armed. On "Center," the staff executes a right face. On "MARCH," the staff steps off and marches forward eight to ten paces. The adjutant commands "HALT"; "Staff, Left, FACE"; and "Staff, Order, SWORD." The staff does not salute the colors as they are passing to the staff's flank and not the front. Once the commander has brought the colors forward, the staff returns to its original position on the adjutant's commands. "Staff, Carry, SWORD" (if so armed) "Staff, Left, FACE"

The commander will move with the staff and command: "Staff, Carry, SWORD" (if so armed) "Staff, Right, FACE" "Staff, Forward, MARCH" (eight to ten paces) "Staff, HALT" "Staff, Left, FACE" "Staff, Order, SWORD" (if so armed) The commander returns the staff to its original position after the color guard has cleared that position. "Staff, Carry, SWORD" (if so armed) "Staff, Left, FACE" "Staff, Forward, MARCH" (eight to ten paces) "Staff, HALT" "Staff, Right, FACE" "Staff, Order, SWORD" (if so armed) When the commander receives the command to "MARCH THE COMMAND IN REVIEW," the commander faces the line of troops and gives the command "PASS IN REVIEW." The commander and staff step off when the command of execution "MARCH" is given by the commander of the lead element in the parade. The staff execute a right turn, marching down the line before executing two left turns to position themselves at the head of their command. As the staff approaches the reviewing area, the commander gives the command, "Staff, Eyes, RIGHT (LEFT)," and as the reviewing area is cleared, "Staff, Ready, FRONT." All members except the extreme right (left) file turn their heads and eyes.
