Stem cells are important because they have regenerative abilities; they generate replacement cells that are lost through normal wear and tear, injury and diseases, and have the potential for treating diseases like heart disease and diabetes (Stem Cell Basics 2015). The difference between the embryonic and adults stem cell is their origin. The embryonic stem cells come from embryos that develop from eggs that have been fertilized. The adult stem cell is found among cells in tissue or organs and has the ability to renew itself and can produce some or all of the major specialized cell types of a tissue or organ (Stem Cell Basics 2015).
