Humanity Humanity is what separates human beings from the rest of God’s creations. The ability to make conscious decisions to decipher right from wrong is what essentially differentiates us from animals and other creatures. God essentially put us on this Earth to do purposeful work and have a meaningful life and relationship with him, because after all, we were made in his image. Each person God created was gifted with certain skills and attributes meant to contribute to the life he intended for us to have on Earth. However, we cannot live the perfect life God intended for us because we are all sinners. The root of every human being is that we are sinful by nature. According to Diffey (2015), “Humanity was created to have life, but the fall introduced sin into the world, which led to the entrance of death in the world” (para. 10). Adam and Eve were essentially the pinnacle of God’s creation but, because they too were tempted and disobeyed God, every being since then has been cursed to live a sinful and unholy life. Jesus Jesus is the second part of the trinity. He is the Messiah and one and true Son of God. Thebook of John writes, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (New Living Translation, John 3:16).
3Jesus came down to Earth fully man and fully God to redeem humanity from their sins. While onEarth Jesus performed miracles outside of human capability including healing the sick, blind, and raising the dead. He preached the Gospel to those willing to listen, and demonstrated what it meant to live for God and only God. He even gave his life up on the cross for us in order to repent for our sins. All of this was done for the glory of God and to show his undying love for each and every one of us. According to Cummings, Kusner, Lucero, Padgett, Gollery, & Pargament (2017), “Jesus sets Christianity apart from the other major monotheistic religions” (p.36). Jesus’s identity and work is so significant to the Christian worldview because he is what restored our relationship with God. Without Jesus, our relationship with God would still be severed and we ourselves would have had to experience the wrath of God because of our sinful ways. Restoration The solution to all of humanity’s problem is salvation through Jesus Christ. We as humans are already saved because of Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross, we just have to choose whether or not to accept Jesus’s gracious offer of redemption by stating our faith that he is indeedGod the Son. It is faith in Jesus Christ and our need to abide and trust in him that grants us
