Lifting Before lifting the load, you should plan and prepare for the task. Make sure that: You know where you are going – If you are unsure please SPEAK UP The area around the load is clear of obstacles • Doors are open and there is nothing on the floor that could trip someone or make them slip You have a good grip on the load Your hands, the load and any handles are not slippery If you are lifting with another Australian Hardware worker , both of you know what you are doing before you start You should adopt the following technique when lifting the load: Put your feet around the load and your body over it (if this is not feasible, try to keep your body as close possible to the load and in front of it) Use the muscles of your legs when lifting Keep your back straight Pull the load as close as possible to your body Lift and carry the load with straight arms. PROPER HANDS ON TRAINING WILL BE GIVEN

Air-conditioning unit stopped working in the back office Air-conditioning and heating in offices it is either too hot or too cold; the temperature varies drastically through the day; the Sydney heat waves are terrible; etc. It's not only the temperature that affects how people feel, but also the humidity levels and air movement. There are no regulations specifying standards for minimum temperatures in the workplace, humidity or air-flow in NSW. However, both the employer ( Australian Hardware and the person who 'manages or controls' a workplace have a duty of care under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 2004 to provide as far as practicable, a working environment that is safe And without risks to health - and therefore should be doing something about unsatisfactory air-conditioning or heating Australian Hardware also has the duty to monitor conditions at the workplace - this includes temperature. Generally, the temperature in offices should vary according to the outside temperature, and should be changed month by month. Mostly, it should be about 21 or 22 degrees. The Compliance Code for Workplace amenities and environment covers this in a bit more detail if you want to review this code. The issues why the back office air con unit has stopped working that it was not regular being serviced. All air conditioning units will be severed regularly every 6 months or will be replaced. If the Air con unit break down service will be call ASAP by the office manager ( contact service numbers will be available) Free standing ventilation fans as an interim measure until the back office air conditioning is fully functioning. A service has been arranged . REMEMBER KEEP THINKING. Even if you're doing your job safely and you are avoiding hazards, there are often even better ways to work safely. If you have ideas for improving the safety of your job or that of co-workers, speak up and share them. Concluding Remarks: While nothing we do can completely eliminate the threat of an incident, we can work together to improve our odds.
