We are seeingthis practice more and more in my home state of PA as the primary care offices are attempting to keep pts. out of the ER and the walk in clinics. Thanks for the update. According to Mullen-Fortino et al (2012), a way to increase revenue for a medical practice is through electronic data transfer and communication (Mullen-Fortino et al, 2012).
Thus paper explanation of benefits to an electronic format will save timeon data entry(Mullen-Fortino et al, 2012).Also, some medical providers are uncomfortable using tools like Facebook and Instagram. Although communication of sensitive data and health protected data via social media is unlawful, social media is free and helps to grow the practice when people search for the medical practice online; besides potential and current patients can be engaged. This will increase patient satisfaction and build a strong community. Consequently, this makes patients more likely to return to the medical practice. When current patients “like” a practice on Facebook, their entire social contact base is sees it. This helps to direct user traffic to the practice page (Mullen-Fortino et al, 2012).Another way is to train medical providers to code correctly. The rationale is that physicians get audited and it is important that physiciansknow how to code correctly. The benefit is that physicians will end up capturing all levels of codes which will increase revenue (O’Malley, 2012).Engage with new crowd. The entire medical providers and office staff can participate in a community service project. Community engagement is a great way to project a charitable, positive image of the practice. Acceptance to a networking conference or speaking engagement is a new way to meet potential patients (O’Malley, 2012).Finally expansion of services will bring revenue to the medical practice. The shifting of demographics in patient population and community helps with revenue. If many adults have young children, adding a pediatrician to the mix is a major asset. This can help to win patients and boost success of the business (O’Malley, 2012).
