suspension was already up before his appeal for the punishment. Medlock now considered his constitutional argument for violation of the 4 th Amendment from the IU inspectors and Officer King. The court also examined his procedural due process claims and came to the same conclusion of that Medlock had clear violations of dorm rooming. Final decision of dismissal was in District court. Issue(s) Presented: Does Medlock call for the violation of the 4 th Amendment hold any substances in the case of investigation in a school own dorm? Holdings : The District Court said no to Medlock’s appeal, and dismiss the case. Rule(s) of law: The court dismisses the appeal due to his charge wasn’t criminal, so even if there was violation for the 4 th the evidences were still admissible. There was also large amount of marijuana that almost a drug dealers amount. And the case was based on the grounds of a school property which Medlock agreed to in the beginning of the year which stated one of the requirements was no smoking and regular room checks. Reasoning: Court saw that even if they took immediate action to enjoin Medlock’s suspension, he couldn’t re-enroll and begin classes midway through the spring semester. Seeing that even if Medlock’s constitutional rights were violated, a preliminary injunction would do him no good in that field. And for the violation of the 4 th amendment, officer King had the right to seized the drug due to it being in plain sight had to do it himself because it would lead to legal troubles with IU student inspectors in possession of the marijuana.
