As most of the employees she works with are part-time, Susan may feel as though most are only temporarily in this position and may be unmotivated to do better. By keeping things between the team strictly on a personal basis, it creates a divide between leader and subordinates. 3. Do you think she should change her behavior? I do think in order for Susan to create a more inviting work environment, she will need to change her behaviour. By establishing a personal connection with her employees she will have a better understanding of how her employees think, and can benefit from it. Even something as simple as taking her lunch breaks together with her employees, or asking questions related to their personal life will strengthen the relationship she has with them. However, I do feel as she should also keep her strong work ethic and task management skills as they currently are. By maintain this level of work and building a stronger personal connection with her employees, it will only benefit the workplace. 4. Would she be effective if she changed? By lowering her Authority-Compliance leader style, this will ultimately increase her effectiveness within her team. By improving her relationships with her employees to become more personal, and balancing with a strong work ethic and task management, this will make her an effective leader.
