The emotion in the movie is displayed through the noir lighting. The men tend to be darker in color while the lighting is much softer and brighter on the women to display their purity and kindness. When Ilsa confronts Rick she into the room and the spotlight follows her.. The lighting now represents the differences in their emotions. The use of backlighting on Isla shows her purity and, kindness, honesty. Rick is covered in dark shadows to show his suspicion and frustration with all that is going on. In the final scene the soft lighting on Isla blurs the background which shows how Rick is focused on her and everything else, such as the airplane in the low-lit background which means their separation, means nothing. 4. A diegetic sound is when Isla and Rick are in Paris and Isla drops the glass. A non-diegetic sound is in the very beginning when you can hear gunshots in the distance. These sounds make the
