Supplemental Typical recommendations are 3 months of iron for iron deficiency. The dose depends on the extent of iron deficiency: 50-200mg of elemental iron (adults); 6 mg/kg body weight (children) Administer with vitamin C, which enhances absorption Parenteral (Intravenous or Intramuscular) In cases of insufficient response to supplementation This permits faster and more efficient absorption of iron and repletion of iron stores.
