affect income, problems with children, etc.) – stress proliferation o Helpful when look at groups and social patterns Structural Strain o Society at large being looked o Normlessness (not socialized to certain circumstances) o Make adjustments to big changes in society and cause people distress o Theory based on economic change People adapt differently (deviance model to mental health) when there is economic shift where less opportunities
