Companies engage in corporate crime for a variety of reasons: greed, to pay off debts, etc. Society should definitely be paying more attention to corporate crime. I feel like since it’s not covered the same way as more physical and intense crimes on the media, people don’t take it as seriously. I feel like they can get away with it easily too, mainly because they have money. Companies should be closer monitored and maybe even have people go undercover to work for jobs that are. I wish it was covered on the media more so the crimes would be more well-known and people were known for committing them, I think that would help and it would contribute to reduce it. 5. Do you think some illegal drugs should be legalized? Why or why not? Do you think there is a drug crisis? Why or why not? I think there is definitely a drug crisis. There’s a drug crisis in all kinds of aspects. We have a ‘drug’ (plant, marijuana) that is illegal in most states and has been proven to treat epilepsy and cancers, and then we have addictive pain killers that have significantly raised the number of drug addicts since doctors began prescribing them that are passed out like candy to anyone who tells them the right things. And then we also have the rising number of addicts overdosing and facilities that can’t help them. I think whether drugs are illegal or not there will still be addicts and people will still find a way to get them. However, I think it should all be re-evaluated. If they haven’t already, they need to find a way to make the pills they prescribe not addictive or find something else to prescribe.
