were coming home from school. No extrinsic evidence (through another witness) would be allowed to show that you were actually coming home from a doctor’s appointment. 4) at some other time he told a different story. (impeachment by self- contradiction, aka prior inconsistent statement). A witness who said different things at different times is less credible, regardless whether the prior statements are believed or not. -extrinsic evidence is allowed if it’s relevant to some issue other than impeachment. Example: you testified on direct as to events that happened in the lunch room. On cross, the attorney asks you what you ate for lunch (that’s proper as it goes to defects in memory). You say a ham sandwich. No extrinsic evidence will be allowed to show that you had earlier said you were eating a salami sandwich that day. The only reason for the salami evidence is to impeach your credibility. 5) he lacks a character for truthfulness. Character evidence may not be used to prove conduct. It may be used to impeach a witness. Point of conflict : A defendant who testifies in his/her defense. Character evidence may be used to argue the defendant is lying. It may not be used to argue that the defendant committed the crime. Very, very, very mashed up situation.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
