hierarchy. There is still a sense of ageism in the group that can create this and would increase the team’s empowerment if it was controlled. I think the best ways to improve this would be focusing on improving our collaborative values. This can be done by maintaining and developing the team structure based on each person’s expectations and goals established for the organization. Communication At Transitions, we keep a form of open communication between leadership and team members. Leadership encourages each team member getting to know one another and getting along. On occasion, without the leader, some members tend to show manipulative communication to get others to help complete their tasks. Beyond this, most interactions are positive, and we all learn something new from each other and want to help each other. The leader adopts a persuasive tone to ensure that we are encouraged throughout the day and remains open to meet our needs when they arise. To improve our communication, we need to ensure that each member is well informed on daily activities and continuously encourage one another. Team Design Our team is designed to give each of its volunteers operational and customer-based service tasks that can be used to develop our individual skills. 5 Running Head: Analyzing a Team the community. Everyone brings their own set of skills and ideas to the group which can be difficult to manage. There needs to be improvement with the processes and procedures of the group, so that we are flexible to work individually and together with our skillsets. To do this, we would need to establish what we expect from one another and give the group more structure. Currently, we are still in the storming stage in our team development. In this stage, we have established working together but run into hiccups regarding emerging leaders. These conflicts rise an unwanted hierarchy among other members and prevent the team from completing tasks. I think that we will overcome this once we are able to manage each other’s equal roles.
