Apply cement to casting intaglio Seat casting into preparation Apply ample pressure with bite stick Mallet gently to express cement Wipe away excess cement Continue malleting until no more cement expresses from margins Hold in place with mallet for 1 min Finishing: o Use straight and contra-angle mandrels Straight mandrel is work horse Contra angles for ML area Rotate from gold to tooth Constantly changing from forward to reverse Use disk with grit facing in or out, depending on access o Start finishing with medium garnet disk Do this prior to hardening of the cement To obtain an even interface between tooth and gold; doesn’t smooth or polish, just makes the tooth and gold on the same plane

o Use fine sand disk to remove scratches o Use fine cuttle disk to initiate polish Disk becomes more flexible as it wears o Small finishing diamonds followed by Brownie, Greenie, and Supergreenie points work well for grooves and fissures that are not accessible with disks Polishing: o Each powder is used with a clean, ribbed rubber cup on a contra angle o Add water to #4 flour pumice Use cotton roll to soak up excess water Rotate ribbed cup from gold to tooth Use suction and air spray to create a dry environment to get polish Gives gold a uniform finish o Use 15 micron Aluminum Oxide, wet Rotate cup from gold to tooth, with air spray Use suction to remove moisture o Use 1 micron Aluminum Oxide dry Remove rubber dam and adjust occlusion with articulating paper o Adjustments are made with a high speed green stone and polished with high speed Brownie and Greenie points
