A PICC line can also be used for blood draws. IM stand for intramuscular which is when a vaccine is given into a muscle. SOB – stands for shortness of breath, which is what the patient is experiencing. Martha Wright Possible Medical Issues High Cholesterol – the patients cholesterol levels are extremely high, there’s a possibility that her high cholesterol is causing her to have headaches. Prolactinoma – the patient also has high prolactin levels, this could mean that she has prolactinoma which is a benign tumor in the pituitary gland that produces too much prolactin. Hypothyroidism – the patients high prolactin levels could also be associated with hypothyroidism which is when the thyroid gland is not producing enough hormones. Test/Procedures and Rule Out Diagnoses
3 Blood Test – the patient’s blood was drawn to do a complete blood test where her cholesterol and prolactin levels came back higher than the normal. Ophthalmology Consult – during this test the patient was found to have no signs of optic nerve neuritis, and was negative for glaucoma which made it possible to rule out any eye related issues as the source of her decreased vision.
