6. Because Amy feels "dirty" a lot of the time, she spends much of her day at the sink, washing and rewashing her hands hundreds of times until they are red and raw. Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Amy is showing signs of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder such as repeatedly washing and rewashing her hands all day, with the exaggerated fear of being contaminated and constantly feeling dirty when she isn’t. I believe this can be termed as a psychological disorder as this is something that happens to Amy all the time and it can be classified as maladaptive behavior. 7. Sarah has an unrealistic fear of shopping in crowded stores and walking through crowded streets. She has begun to spend more and more time home alone in order to avoid the panicky feeling she gets when she goes out in public. Agoraphobia Sarah is showing signs of Agoraphobia such as the fear and avoidance of places and situations that might make her panic, or being embarrassed and she is avoiding being present in public settings. This can be called as a psychological disorder because it occurs a lot and it can be classified as maladaptive behavior. 8. Emmett, who has just suffered a serious knee injury, cannot undergo an MRI because he has an irrational fear of narrow, enclosed places that he developed after he got stuck in a well when he was a kid.

PSYC 221 - Human Behavior, Growth, & Learning Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Emmitt is showing signs of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Claustrophobia as he has been exposed to serious injury when he was a kid and trying to avoid anything associated with the event and due to this event, he seems to have also developed a fear of narrow, enclosed spaces – Claustrophobia. This can be termed as a psychological disorder as it occurs a lot and it can be termed as maladaptive behavior, now. 9. Lately, Jon has been getting into physical fights and recently got arrested for trying to steal a car. When his mom went to bail him out of jail, she told police officers that she doesn’t know what to do with her son, as he lacks remorse for his behavior. She also revealed that this has been going on for a long time – when he was a kid, he would even throw rocks at the stray cats in the neighborhood.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
