Question 6 From these graphs, we can compare the birthweight of babies born from smokers and non-smokers. Because the frequency is standardised using relative frequency, we can compare the weights between the two categories. The birthweight of babies from smokers seems to be lower in general than the birthweight of babies from non-smokers. This is expected, since birthweight is an indicator is health and babies who are born from smoking mothers are generally expected to be less healthy than babies born from non-smoking mothers.
Summary Question The idea of and distinction between different types of variables (categorical and numerical) came up in this exercise. However, the relative benefits of histograms compared to ribbon charts was not adequately explored in the textbook, but was covered quite well in the lab. On the other hand, the benefits and different possible configurations of histograms using relative or absolute frequence was explored during lecture and was used during this lab. Basic ideas of distribution was also talked about in both the textbook and lecture, which was used in this lab.

### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

• I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
