Zul-Hajj . Departure for Minaa from Muzdalifah.
Here at Minaa, Rami at Jamarat-ul-Uqba, sacrifice and head
shaving (for men) are Wajib (necessary). After taking off the
Ihraam, Tawaaf-i-Ziarat is offered. In this circumambulation, seven
rounds of Baitullah and Sayi of Safa and Marwah is offered. Holy
Quran says: -
“And do not shave your head until the offering reaches the
place of sacrifice”. (2: 196)
“Verily: Safa & Marwah are among the symbols of Allah”.
(2: 58)
e. Back Journey to Minaa and Rami. After Tawaf-i-Ziarat, the
pilgrims come back to Minaa on 11 th and 12 th of Zul-Hajj the
prescribed time for Rami is after declining of the sun before the
Maghrib. On both these days, the seven pebbles shall have to be
thrown one after the other, in the prescribed manner, at each of
three stone pillars, first Jamarat-ul-sughra, then Jamarat-ul-wusta

and at the last Jamarat-ul-uqba. After this pilgrims come back to
Makkah.
f. Tawaf-i-Wida. On their return to Makkah from Minaa, the
pilgrims should perform Tawaf-e-Wida. It is for those who come
from outside Makkah. This should be performed before leaving
Makkah. Before departure for Makkah, the pilgrims should go to
Al-Multazim, offer two Rakaat prayers at Maqam-e-Ibrahim, kiss
the black stone and drink water from the Zam Zam.
Chief Objects of Pilgrimage
Hajj is one of the fundamental religious institutions of Islam. It is the
greatest of all acts of worship. It is in fact, the culmination of worship. It is an
exhibition of brotherhood, equality, punctuality and discipline. It affords an
opportunity to Muslims from various countries of the world to become
acquainted with one another and of discussing common problems facing the
Muslim community. Moreover, following are also the benefits of pilgrimage:-
a. Highest Training for Spiritual Advancement . Hajj affords the
best training ground for absolute and complete surrender to the
Divine command. There the Pilgrim forgets his own hearth and
home, his comforts and amenities of life, his dear wives and
children, his hard-earned wealth, his friends and relatives and
everything he possesses. He bears great risk of life and faces long
absence from his near and dear ones. These all things afford a
sufficient training for true self-surrender.
b. Brotherhood . Hajj has got another object, namely, to foster a spirit
of brotherly love and affection among the Muslims of different
countries. It is the highest manifestation of Islamic brotherhood
and Islamic democracy.
c. Practical Example . It affords a practical example to believe in the
divine origin of all revealed books. It is universally admitted that
the kabah is an old house and memories of the prophet Abrahim
and his struggle for pure monotheism are deeply associated with it.
The Hajj is great commemoration of the great sacrifice of Prophet
Abraham.
