issues, women with PID can still get pregnant. Pelvic inflammatory disease can cause scar tissue or damage to the fallopian tubes which is where fertilization of the eggs occur (American Pregnancy Association, 2019). Many times with PID women experience ectopic pregnancies. Ectopic pregnancies can rupture the fallopian tubes causing severe pain, internal bleeding, and even death (American Pregnancy Association, 2019). Inflammatory markers Inflammatory markers are one way to help diagnose pelvic inflammatory disease. CRP also knowns as c-reactive protein is one blood test that can be done to help diagnose PID. In PID the CRP is elevated due to inflammation (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease, n.d.). An ESR, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, can be ran if unable to test the CRP. This is another way to check for inflammation.
Conclusion In conclusion, pelvic inflammatory disease can be a major issue for women. It is commonly cause by an STD and can leave women with lifelong complications. Women with PID can have issues with infertility which can cause them to have mental health issues in the future. References
